Featuring the returning characters Atsushi Nakanaka (Motoko Kusanagi), Akio Takatsuka (Bato), and Hirota Takaji (Togusa) from the original series, Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming CGI anime series Ghost In The Shell: SAC_2045.

The series based on the manga by Shirow Masamune aptly takes place during the year 2045 during a systematic “Sustainable War,” where Section 9 are hired as mercenaries to face a being with “intelligence and physical capabilities.” Considering the 2045 namesake, it is likely the series will be a loose sequel to the 2002 Stand Alone Complex series—Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 is nonetheless the franchise’s first step into 3D CGI animation.
